Some of the best-known ingredients in Italian cooking are from the Emilia Romagna. The area around the house produces Parmesan cheese and Parma ham and 30km away, the city of Modena is the home of Balsamic Vinegar.
Modena was the birthplace of the ‘Slow Food’ movement and Massimo Bottura’s Osteria Francescana has been awarded 3 Michelin stars every year since 2011. His more affordable offshoot, Francescetta 58, is also in the city. There are two very good trattoria, a short drive from the house.
